History of Blue Skies:
Blue Skies Art & Frame was opened in July 2022 by Malu Ayers following the closure of Blue Skies Frame Co., originally founded by Alice Rogers in May 2005. Malu worked for Alice for a year and a half before Alice retired from her 30 year career in fine art framing and sold the property which you all know and love (previously located at 4400 Burnet Rd., across from Ramsey Park). Having worked in framing since graduating art school, Malu took the opportunity to continue the Blue Skies legacy and pursue her own passion for framing at a new location just minutes up the road, now at 1500 W. Koenig Ln.
About the Owner:
Since she was young, Malu has been passionate about art making, history, and discourse. She attended the Alabama School of Fine Arts in Birmingham, AL for her high school education, and continued on to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she received her BFA with honors in 2018. Her own multidisciplinary practice includes illustration, video, and 3D modeling and animation. Since graduating, Malu has worked in fine art framing in Chicago, Portland (OR), Boston, and Austin, gaining experience in commercial framing as well as archival and historically informed framing.
Blue Skies Art & Frame offers all of your traditional services and then some... We love oddball projects, brainstorming, and exploring alternative means of fabrication. Let's find out what is possible, together!
